About the Program
The Certificate in Climate Action Planning (CAP) 4.5-month, online program is designed for you to develop knowledge, skills and best practices related to climate action planning. Earn a professional credential while learning to create a road map that guides your local community in achieving your emission-reduction goals and becoming more resilient to climate change.
You’ll cover topics such as community engagement, communication and leadership strategies, climate impact and vulnerability assessments, strategies to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, climate, and social justice, and more. No prior climate or sustainability-focused experience is required!
What You’ll Learn:
- Lead Effectively: Build communication strategies for working with community stakeholders across politically diverse environments.
- Assess Vulnerability: Evaluate climate risks using modeling tools while incorporating equity and environmental justice.
- Mitigate Emissions: Understand sources of greenhouse gas emissions and how to mitigate them.
- Build a Plan: Turn climate data and community priorities into actionable steps toward a climate action plan.
Format:
CAP features live weekly classes via Zoom, providing learners with opportunities for meaningful connection that balance with their personal and work commitments. Classes are held on Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm PST, with the exception of holidays (see schedule to the right).
